Everyday Makeup

Being a relitivily new blogger I'm always unsure of how to start my posts or who to direct it too. At the moment my scrawlings are really just ramblings that fall onto the keyboard, and with only 20 followers (who I am very grateful for!) it seems rather silly to begin a post with "Hi everyone!" or "Hi all" as i'm unsure of how many people it's actually reaching.
That being said I'm now scrutinizing and deleting everything I write in trying to start this post so I'm going to begin without much introduction.

For the past couple of weeks i've been following the exact same make up routine with the exact same products, they've become so trusty that I can't even be daring enough to switch to a different colour eyeshadow. I'm falling deeper into this make up rut and would love some suggestions of new products to buy - baring in mind I have pale skin that's recently aquired some unsightly blotches and turns red ALL THE TIME.
At the moment the products i'm using every morning at 7:15 am are:

l'oreal touche magique concealer - I only bought this as I couldn't afford Touche Eclat which according to reviews seemed to be the best under eye concealer, but as I've never used the Yves Saint Laurent version and had no expectations, this is actually quite good. I think mines ivory beige which if used without foundation leaves white panda eyes, but as I've been caking myself in it recently it does the job.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse in "Porcelaine Ivory"

Benefit Hello Flawless in "Champagne- me vain?" - When I went to London recently I must have looked a bit overwhelmed by the Benefit counter in Debenhams (sad I know but I live in Northampton - we have nothing!) because the nice chap working there attacked my face with this stuff. I love it. It's a sort of concealer-come-all over powder and does help towards the dreaded blushing/redness problem

Maxfactor bronzing powder

Benefit "Stay don't stray" Primer - I bought this the other week in Milton Keynes thinking it was the other product the guy in London caked on my cheeks. The big eye picture on the packaging clearly went un noticed to me! It has confused me though as I think this is the only Benefit product with the pump and he definitly used something with a pump on. Either way this works well as an eyeshadow primer (that i might also sometimes put on my cheeks...)

Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box - Luckily I have a very nice Boyfriend who bought this for me. The colours I use everyday in my quest to be mundane are Half Baked, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, and Twice Baked

Benefit Waterproof Eyeliner - I do love Benefit products and their packaging but this isn't actually that great. The selling point is the smudgy thing at the other end but it just smears.

Benefit Bad Gal Lash - This is the best mascara I've ever owned, the HUGE brush makes lashes HUGE. It does sort of stodge together a bit (or clump as most would say) after a while but its still wins.

No wonder my make up takes up a lot of my time in the morning, that's quite a lot o products for everyday work makeup!

On a completly different note I HATE Sinead on Hollyoaks. Do you not own anything other than those red tights? ugh.

  1. I've been blogging for a few years now and still don't know how to start a post :p

I really need some Benefit hello flawless, I'm far from it right now!

  2. i love bad gal, i got it free a while ago with Glamour mahazine and it was amazing! xx

  3. Oooh you've got such a good collection of makeup! I'm exactly the same - I spend way too long put my makeup on for work because I use a silly number of products just to achieve a 'natural' look.

And oh my goodness, Sinead from Hollyoaks is SO annoying! It's so true about the red tights - they're all she wears! The whole O'Connor family are really annoying actually, none of them can act, especially the brother!

So glad you commented on my blog as it's meant that I've found yours - I really like it, keep up the good work ;)

  4. I know this is such an old post of yours! But would you still recommend the benefit powder? xx
